BADAKHSHAN -- Afghan security forces killed the Taliban shadow governor for Shohada District in Badakhshan Province and two other militants during a clash, TOLOnews reported Thursday (August 9).
The incident took place Wednesday night (August 8) in the district while Mohammad Sangaryar and a number of his fighters were travelling from Warduj District, officials said.
"The clash between the security forces and the Taliban lasted for nearly half an hour, and [once it was over] the forces discovered the bodies of Sangaryar and two other Taliban with weapons," said Saber Aryan, provincial police chief.
"The other Taliban fighters escaped," he added.
Security forces did not suffer any casualties, according to Aryan.
