MAZAR-E-SHARIF -- Afghan men and women last month held a cultural fashion show at an amusement park in Mazar-e-Sharif, defying militant threats.

The show, organised by the Kabul-based Haqiqi Modeling Agency, was attended by local residents, artists and civil society activists, TOLOnews reported.

Such displays were unheard of under the Taliban's repressive regime (1996-2001).

Afghanistan remains one of the most dangerous countries for women, with new generations of girls showing courage to bring positive social changes.
