Afghan officials vow to defeat terrorists

KABUL -- Afghan officials' said security forces will defeat militants and take revenge for the "martyred hero", while attending the funeral of the slain Nangarhar's Police Chief Brig. Gen. Zorawar Zahid September 13, TOLO News reported.

Zorawar was killed two days ago in a roadside blast in Hesarak District of Nangarhar province.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Interior Minister Taj Muhammad Jahid, National Security Advisor Muhammad Hanif Atmar and other government officials attended the funeral of the deceased General.

"We are mourning the demise of a martyred hero, but they (insurgents) must know that thousands of other heroes will emerge from each drop of blood of each hero," Ghani said on the occasion.

Jahid also reiterated his commitment to take revenge for Zorawar's killing.

The militants are enemies of the Afghan nation, but our brave and courageous security forces will retaliate against them, Atmar said.
