MAIDAN WARDAK, Afghanistan -- Afghan troops September 21 killed at least 10 Taliban in Nerkh District, Maidan Wardak Province, officials said September 22, according to TOLO News.
The troops carried out the operation when militants were preparing an attack, provincial governor's spokesman Abdul Wali Noorzai said.
No civilian or military casualties were reported, Noorzai added.
Meanwhile, a Faryab Province prosecutor and two Afghan troops from Takhar Province September 22 escaped Taliban captivity in Dawlatabad District, Faryab Province, Dawlatabad police chief Col. Niamatullah Toofan told Pajhwok Afghan News September 23.
The prosecutor and the troops were kidnapped 10 months and 6 months ago, respectively, Toofan said.
