Takhar’s police, intelligence chiefs escape bombing

KABUL -- Takhar Province's police and intelligence chiefs September 25 narrowly escaped a bombing that killed two police officers, provincial deputy police chief Attiqullah Haidari told Pajhwok Afghan News.

A land mine exploded under a tank in Khwaja Ghar District, Haidari said. The explosion killed two police officers inside the tank. Provincial police and intelligence chiefs Haji Daud Agha and Haji Ibrahim also were riding the tank but escaped injury.

Security forces September 26 in Bagrami District, Kabul Province, gunned down a would-be suicide bomber, Khaama Press reported.

The bomber was seeking to blow up his own vehicle, but forces recognised and killed him before he could reach his target, security sources said.

Four militants were killed in Dangam District, Kunar Province, September 24 by the premature explosion of the artillery shell that they were transporting, the Afghan National Army said September 25, according to Khaama Press. At least five civilians were killed in the blast.
