10 Haqqani Network militants, 12 civilians killed in Afghanistan

MAIDAN WARDAK, Afghanistan -- At least 10 operatives of the terrorist Haqqani Network were killed in a September 29 battle in Maidan Wardak Province with members of the Hezb-e-Islami (HI) party's militant wing, while roadside bombs killed 12 civilians in two provinces.

The gun battle took place in the Mulakhel area, provincial governor's spokesman Abdul Rahman Mangal said, according to TOLO News.

The commander of the Haqqani Network group was among the dead, Mangal said, without specifying casualties among HI members.

A roadside bomb in Maiwand District, Kandahar Province, killed at least two civilians, provincial governor's spokesman Samim Khpwalwak told Pajhwok Afghan News.

A Taliban roadside bomb, in Qads District, Badghis Province, killed 10 more civilians, provincial governor's spokesman Khalid Safi said, according to Khaama Press.
