Afghan forces chalk out new counter insurgency plan for Helmand

LASHKARGAH -- Afghan security forces have outlined a security plan to curb a further advance and infiltration of the militants into the provincial capital city of Lashkargah, the Helmand's Governor Hayatullah Hayat said October 19, TOLO News reported.

The new security plan would have positive implications on the security climate in the militancy-riddled province, he said.

Meanwhile, Taliban militants reportedly kidnapped at least 20 de-miners from Elyas village of Pul-i-Alam city of Logar province October 19, the Crime Branch Police Chief Col. Muhammad Jan Abid told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The de-miners were travelling on a mini bus when unidentified gunmen took them over to an unknown place, Abid said.
