Ghani: 30 militant outfits are active in Afghanistan

Staff Report

KABUL -- Thirty terrorist groups are operating in Afghanistan, but the government is committed to ensuring peace and stability, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said November 2, Pajhwok Afghan News reported November 3.

Ghani was addressing a security conference in Kabul, a statement from his office said, adding that the commanders of the Afghan National Army (ANA), Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) attended the meeting.

Ghani praised the sacrifices of security forces, saying that Afghans know their security forces are the only source of stability and law enforcement.

Militant outfits and illegal armed groups cannot destabilise Afghanistan, he said.
