27 militants killed in Sar-i-Pul, Nangarhar operations

SAR-I-PUL -- Security forces killed at least 27 militants during operations in Sar-i-Pul and Nangarhar provinces, officials said.

At least six members of the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) were killed recently in fighting in Pacheragam District, Nangarhar Province, the Ministry of Defence said, Khaama Press reported November 17.

In Sar-i-Pul Province, troops killed at least 21 Taliban in a 24-hour span, provincial governor Mohammad Zahir Wahdat told Pajhwok Afghan News November 16.

In Maidan Wardak Province, police November 15 seized a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device that was meant for a bombing in Chaghato District, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said, Khaama Press reported November 16, quoting the police.
