DUSHANBE -- Tajik border troops killed two Afghan citizens trying to enter Tajikistan illegally, Afghanistan.ru reported Tuesday (December 27), quoting Afghanistan's 1TV channel.
The shootings occurred late last week at night but became public knowledge only on Tuesday. The two Afghans, residents of Takhar Province, were trying to cross into Tajikistan, but the border guards opened fire, killing them both.
Authorities still do not know why the Afghans were trying to enter Tajikistan. Negotiations are under way on repatriating the bodies.
