Afghan forces clear militants from 20 villages in Kunduz, Kandahar

KABUL -- Afghan troops recently cleared militants from 20 villages in Kunduz and Kandahar provinces, officials said.

Troops killed or wounded about 30 militants in Kunduz Province while driving out insurgents from seven villages, the Afghan National Army said in a statement Thursday (December 29), according to TOLO News and Khaama Press.

The operation will continue until troops have regained control of all contested areas in Kunduz, the statement added.

Meanwhile in Shah Wali Kot District, Kandahar Province, troops cleared the Taliban out of 13 villages, district police chief Bacha Khan said Wednesday (December 28), TOLO News reported.
