Afghan forces kill 18 ISIL militants in Nangarhar

KABUL -- At least 28 militants, including 18 members of the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL), were killed in fighting in Kunduz and Nangarhar provinces, officials said.

The ISIL members, all foreign fighters, were killed in a 24-hour span in Haska Mina and Nazian districts, Nangarhar Province, according to local security officials, Khaama Press reported Thursday (February 23).

Security forces seized 31 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Haska Mina.

Meanwhile Afghan forces killed 10 Taliban militants in Kunduz city and in Imam Sahib District Wednesday (February 22), said Afghan National Army spokesman Ghulaam Hazrat Karimi, according to Khaama Press.
