KABUL -- Afghan troops killed 136 militants and cleared 13 villages of Taliban members in operations nationwide, said officials.
The operations took place in 18 provinces in a 24-hour span, said the Ministry of Defence (MoD), Afghanistan Times reported Monday (May 22). The 136 dead militants included nine members of the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS), said the MoD.
The troops also cleared 13 villages of militants in Nerkh District, Maidan Wardak Province, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
