Khalili appointed chief of High Peace Council

KABUL -- President Ashraf Ghani appointed Mohammad Karim Khalili, a former vice president, chairman of the country's High Peace Council (HPC), said government officials Monday (June 5), according to Khaama Press.

The post had been vacant since Pir Syed Ahmad Gilani died in office in January.

Khalili was deputy chairman until Ghani promoted him.
