ISIS to be crushed, says HPC chairman

BAMIYAN -- Mohammad Karim Khalili, chairman of the Afghan High Peace Council (HPC), has once again stressed the importance of having a national consensus and reconciliation to end the conflict in Afghanistan, Pajhwok Afghan News reported Thursday (October 19).

Khalili made his remarks to a gathering in Bamiyan city, capital of the eponymous province.

The 40-year-old conflict in Afghanistan should come to an end, he said, adding, "Religious and ethnic confrontation will take us nowhere."

Although the Taliban will have the chance to reconcile, the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) and similar groups "will be crushed", said Khalili.
