Taliban shadow district chief's own bodyguard kills him in Jawzjan

SHEBERGHAN -- A Taliban shadow district chief and five other militants were gunned down by the district chief's own bodyguard Thursday (June 22) in Jawzjan Province, reported Pajhwok Afghan News.

The shootings took place in Qazal Qushlaq village, said provincial police. They identified the slain Taliban leader as Qari Aman aka Shamsullah, shadow chief for Darzab District.

The killer was Aman's relative and had recently left the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS), claimed local resident Abdul Jalil.

The killer's fate and motive were not reported.
