KABUL -- Four brothers who resisted extortion by a gang were gunned down in Khanabad District, Kunduz Province, Monday (July 3) the Afghanistan Times reported Wednesday (July 5).
Gunmen serving an illegal armed group tried to extract "donations" from residents of Arab Qadaq village, including the brothers, said district police chief Lt. Col. Mohammad Zahir Niyazai.
When the brothers resisted, the gunmen shot four of them fatally and wounded a fifth, he added. The suspects escaped.
In Kunduz Province, the Taliban have adopted targeted killings of security personnel as a new tactic, TOLO News reported Thursday (July 6), quoting provincial police.
