WASHINGTON -- A six-member team of high school girls from Herat won a silver medal for "courageous achievement" at an international robotics tournament that ended in the US capital Washington, DC Tuesday (July 18), Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) reported.
The award at the FIRST Global Challenge, a three-day-long contest, recognised teams that showed a "can-do" attitude in confronting difficulties.
The team initially were denied US visas, but the US administration later reversed the decision and allowed it to come.
