BADAKHSHAN -- A former Taliban militant who has joined the peace process in Badakhshan Province says the group's insurgency is against Islam, Khaama Press reported Monday (October 30).
The former militant, whose identity authorities are concealing for his protection, previously fought the government, according to the Afghan National Army (ANA).
The Taliban are serving foreign interests and their activities violate Islam's teachings, he said.
