FARYAB -- Afghan security forces killed 12 Taliban militants in Faryab Province, including the group's provincial shadow governor, Khaama Press reported Wednesday (March 7).
Zabi Ghazi, who was identified as the Taliban's shadow governor for Faryab, was among those killed in the operation in Shirin Tagab District, said local security officials.
Abdul Karim Yoresh, a spokesman for the provincial police chief, confirmed Ghazi's death.
The Taliban did not immediately comment.
