KABUL -- The Afghan government Sunday (June 3) launched an investigation into the alleged rape of a five-year-old Afghan girl by three men in Iran, TOLOnews reported.
Three men abducted the girl outside her house in Isfahan city and then raped her, according to the Afghan Foreign Ministry.
Afghanistan's Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations called the incident inhumane and asked Iranian officials to bring the culprits to justice.
"The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations asks the Iranian officials to seriously investigate this inhumane and barbaric act and legally prosecute the perpetrators," said Hafiz Ahmad Meyakhil, an adviser with the ministry.
Doctors confirmed the rape. The Afghan girl has returned home from the hospital, according to her family.
