Air strike in Kapisa kills 6 elite Taliban fighters, including commander

LAGHMAN -- A coalition air strike in Kapisa Province killed at least six members of the Taliban's elite Red Unit, the 201st Silab Corps of the Afghan National Army said in a statement Wednesday (August 1).

The air strike Tuesday (July 31) hit a vehicle carrying a commander of the unit and his security guards as it was traveling in Nejrab District, said the statement.

The Taliban did not immediately comment.
