KABUL -- National Directorate of Security (NDS) personnel arrested at least 26 suspected members of the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) during operations in Kabul, TOLOnews reported Tuesday (September 18), citing a statement by NDS.
The suspects planned to conduct suicide attacks during Ashura ceremonies scheduled for Thursday (September 20), NDS said in a statement on Tuesday.
"NDS forces identified them before they reached their targets and thwarted their plans," read the statement.
This year, Ashura, the 10th day of the holy month of Muharram, will be observed on Thursday-Friday (September 20-21).
