Afghan forces kill at least 26 militants in Paktia operation

GARDEZ -- Afghan forces killed at least 26 militants and wounded three others during an operation in Zurmat District, Paktia Province, the 203rd Thunder Corps of the Afghan National Army said in a statement Tuesday (October 2).

The operation, which had air support from Afghan and coalition forces, took place in the Bakawa, Kotikhel and Hastogan areas of Zurmat District, said the statement without providing further details on the raid's timing.

Those killed included Mullah Daud, chief of a Taliban military commission, and Taliban shadow judge Mullah Akhtar Ghani, also known as Mullah Sayeed, the statement added.
