Police in Uruzgan and Kandahar kill at least 8 Taliban militants

KABUL -- Police in Uruzgan and Kandahar provinces killed at least eight Taliban militants, the Interior Ministry said in a statement Tuesday (December 11).

Forces from the General Command of Police Special Units killed five militants Monday (December 10) during a clearance operation in Tirin Kot, the provincial capital of Uruzgan, said the statement.

"One PK machine gun, an AK-47 rifle and four motorcycles used by the militants [were] destroyed as well," reads the statement.

Separately, police killed three Taliban members in an ambush in the Sor Baghal area of Maiwand District, Kandahar Province, the same statement added, without giving details on the timing.
