HELMAND -- Afghan security forces have killed at least 251 Taliban militants in the past month in Helmand Province, the press office of Helmand provincial governor said in a statement Tuesday (December 11).
"Abdul Manan, the Taliban's shadow governor for Helmand Province, his spokesman, Mullah Javid, and 11 other senior officials of the group were among those killed," said the statement, quoting provincial governor of Helmand Gen. Mohammad Yasin Khan.
Security forces have weakened militants in the province, he said, adding that troops "destroyed 75 ... militant hideouts and 28 weapon storage facilities".
