HELMAND -- Afghan police killed at least five Taliban militants, including a local commander, during an overnight clash in Gereshk District, Helmand Province, the Interior Ministry said in a statement Wednesday (January 2).
"The clash took place in the Spin Masjid village," said the statement, without providing details on the timing.
Six other Taliban militants were wounded.
Police seized two AK-47s, ammunition and other military equipment belonging to the militants, the statement added.
