Afghan operation kills 7 Taliban militants in Faryab

MAZAR-E-SHARIF -- Afghan commandos raided a Taliban compound in Garziwan District, Faryab Province, killing at least seven militants, including their commander, the 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan National Army said in a statement Wednesday (January 16).

The operation, which had air support from the Afghan Air Force, took place Tuesday (January 15) in the Adam Qala area, said the statement. It identified the militant commander who was killed in the operation as Abu Talha.

At least five more militants were wounded and their caches of weapons destroyed.
