300 ISIL members killed in Nangarhar

JALALABAD -- Afghan troops have killed about 300 members of the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) in an on-going clearance operation in Nangarhar Province, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said, according to a July 27 Khaama Press report.

The military launched Operation Shaheen-18 on July 22 after Defence Minister Abdullah Habibi's visit to Nangarhar. The operation will continue until troops have cleared ISIL from areas along the Durand Line, MoD spokesperson Muhammad Radmanesh said.

Meanwhile, the Taliban ambushed and killed three police officers in Ghazni city, Ghazni provincial police chief Brig. Gen. Aminullah Amarkhil told Pajhwok Afghan News July 28.
