39 Afghan militants, 2 troops, 3 children killed

KABUL -- At least 31 members of the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) were among 39 militants killed across Afghanistan in a 24-hour span, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said in a statement July 10, according to Pajhwok Afghan News.

Two Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were killed in the fighting, the MoD said.

The ISIL militants were killed in raids in Kot and Achin districts, Nangarhar Province, Khaama Press reported.

Meanwhile, National Directorate of Security (NDS) personnel recently captured three accused Haqqani Network organisers of suicide bombings, the NDS said in a July 11 statement, according to Khaama Press.

The individuals are skilled in making magnetic bombs that can be detonated from cell phones, the NDS said.

Afghan and coalition forces July 10 captured at least 12 Taliban in Chahar Dara District, Kunduz Province, Gen. Gen. Muhammad Qasim Jangalbagh said July 11, according to TOLO News.

Meanwhile, a July 10 roadside bombing in Kandahar Province killed three children, provincial police spokesman Zia Durani said, according to Khaama Press.

The children were riding a rickshaw that ran over a bomb on a highway, he added.
