KABUL -- Afghan troops recently reopened a road leading to Janikhel District, Paktia Province, the Afghanistan Times reported, quoting an August 14 announcement by the Defence Ministry.
The Taliban had inconvenienced locals by shutting down the road.
Meanwhile, troops threw back a militant attack on Waigal District, Nuristan Province, August 14, the Afghanistan Times reported, quoting provincial governor Hafiz Abdul Qayum.
The assailants included foreign fighters, Qayum said.
