KABUL -- At least 69 militants, 21 security personnel and 2 children were killed recently in fighting across Afghanistan.
Troops killed at least 61 militants nationwide in multiple provinces in a 24-hour span, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said September 6, according to the Afghanistan Times.
At least 15 troops were killed, the MoD said.
Six police officers and 19 insurgents were killed recently in Qala-i-Zal District, Kunduz Province, an official said September 6, according to Pajhwok Afghan News.
Those 25 combined dead might have been part of the government and insurgent casualties reported by the MoD.
A recent air strike in Shegal District, Kunar Province, killed at least eight members of the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL), the MoD said, according to a September 7 Khaama Press report.
Meanwhile, an old bomb recently killed two schoolchildren near a school in Jaghatu District, Maidan Wardak Province, school headmaster Rahmatullah said September 6, according to Pajhwok Afghan News.
