9 Taliban land mine planters killed in Afghanistan

KABUL -- At least nine Taliban land mine planters were killed in Zabul and Helmand provinces recently, media reported.

At least four Taliban were killed recently by their own explosives in Qalat, Zabul Province, Ghulam Jilani Farahi, chief of the provincial Directorate of Security, said September 26, according to the Afghanistan Times.

Five more Taliban were killed in a recent security operation in Sangin District, Helmand Province, police said September 26, according to TOLO News.

The Taliban were planting roadside bombs, the police said.
