7 Afghan militants killed; 11 surrender

KABUL -- At least seven militants were killed and 11 surrendered recently in Afghanistan.

The militants were killed in a recent battle with troops 40km from Firoz Koh, Ghor Province, provincial police chief Brig. Gen. Ghulam Mustafa said November 9, according to Pajhwok Afghan News.

Eleven militants in Nangarhar Province recently renounced insurgency and handed over their weapons, governor's spokesman Ataullah Khogyani said November 8, according to the Afghanistan Times.

The group carried out terrorism in several districts, he said.

A November 8 Taliban attack on a check-post in Mizan District, Zabul Province, killed an Afghan National Army soldier, TOLO News reported.
