Afghan forces kill 37 militants , arrest 19 suspects

KABUL -- Afghan security forces killed at least 37 militants recently and detained 19 suspected militants.

The 37 insurgents killed in several provinces included six Taliban commanders, the Ministry of Defence said, according to a November 9 Afghanistan Times report.

Security forces in Rodat District, Nangarhar Province, recently killed three Taliban, provincial governor's spokesman Ataullah Khogyani said, according to Pajhwok Afghan News. Those three might have been part of the 37 dead militants cited by the Afghanistan Times.

Security forces in Uruzgan Province recently arrested a police officer accused of ties to the Taliban, the Afghanistan Times reported, quoting a November 9 statement by the Ministry of Interior.

Meanwhile, special forces recently detained two suspected Haqqani Network operatives in Pul-i-Alam District, Logar Province, police said November 9, according to the Afghanistan Times.
