KABUL -- The Afghan government recently asked the UN Security Council to remove Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, leader of the Hezb-e-Islami Afghanistan party, from the UN sanctions list, Khaama Press reported Monday (December 12).
Hekmatyar's party in September signed a peace agreement with the Afghan government.
