12 ISIL members, 18 Taliban killed in attacks in Nangarhar, Helmand

JALALABAD -- At least 30 militants, four police personnel and a tribal elder were killed in Nangarhar and Helmand provinces, media reported on Friday (Friday 3).

Twelve "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) members were killed after they attacked a local police outpost in Kot District, Nangarhar Province, Thursday (February 2), tribal elder Malik Amir Khan said, according to TOLO News.

Four police officers and a tribal elder were also killed in the attack, Khan added.

Air and ground operations in Sangin District, Helmand Province, killed at least 18 Taliban militants and destroyed five hideouts, the Helmand provincial government said in a statement, Khaama Press reported Friday (February 3).
