Kunar governor, other officials survive Taliban ambush

ASADABAD, Afghanistan -- Kunar Provincial Governor Wahidullah Kalimzai and other Afghan officials Sunday (February 5) survived a Taliban ambush in Kunar Province, Pajhwok Afghan News reported.

Kalimzai's convoy came under attack in the Peroni area, provincial governor's spokesman Abdul Ghani Musamim said.

The officials were heading back to Asadabad after inaugurating various projects in Watapur District, Musamim said.

Convoy guards fought off the attack and nobody in the convoy was injured, he added.
