12 children freeze to death in Kabul IDP camps

Staff Report

KABUL -- At least 12 internally displaced children died from the recent cold snap in Kabul in the past week, TOLO News reported Wednesday (February 8).

The children were living in camps for internally displaced persons (IDPs) set up in Kabul. They had fled violence in their home provinces.

More than 10,000 IDPs are residing in at least 40 locations in Kabul.

The numbers of IDPs living in Kabul could keep growing if war and violence do not stop, Hafiz Miakhil, spokesperson for the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations, said.
