JALALABAD -- Security forces killed at least 16 "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) militants and seized a large arms cache during Operation Shaheen 25 in Nangarhar province, TOLO News reported Wednesday (February 15).
The militants were killed during air and ground operations in the Kot and Deh Bala districts of the province, governor's spokesman Ataullah Khogyani said.
Separately, security forces confiscated a large cache of weapons, which included 15 improvised explosive devices, during an operation in Behsud district of the province, police spokesman Gen. Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal said, Khaama Press reported Wednesday (February 15).
Militants were planning to transport the arms for attacks in the city of Jalalabad, Mashriqiwal added.
