HERAT -- An air strike hit a large gathering of Taliban militants in Herat Province, Khaama Press reported Wednesday (October 25).
The air strike took place Tuesday (October 24) near Chishti Sharif District, where almost 300 Taliban militants had gathered for a meeting, according to a statement by the provincial government.
Exact Taliban casualties were unknown. The Taliban suffered heavy losses and fled, according to the statement.
Whether Afghan or coalition forces carried out the strike was not reported.
The Taliban had no comment.
