Air strikes kill 22 Taliban militants in Faryab

MAZAR-E-SHARIF -- A coalition air strike killed at least 10 Taliban militants in Ghormach District, Faryab Province, the 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan National Army said in a statement Thursday (October 11).

The strike targeted a Taliban hideout Wednesday evening (October 10) in Ghormach, killing the militants and destroying three armoured vehicles, said the statement.

Among those killed was Qari Naser, a militant commander also known as Ansar.

Separately, the Afghan air force conducted an air strike Wednesday in Qaisar District in Faryab, killing at least 12 Taliban militants, according to the same statement.
