NANGARHAR -- Personnel from Afghanistan's National Directorate of Security (NDS) have thwarted a bomb plot in Jalalabad, according to Nangarhar provincial officials.
NDS intelligence operatives discovered a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device in Rodaat District, said Ataullah Khogyani, a spokesman for the provincial governor, in a news conference Tuesday (February 13).
"The Haqqani Network was planning to attack an important government building in Jalalabad city, but fortunately our [NDS] personnel foiled their plan," Khugyani said, as quoted by a Facebook statement from the media office of the provincial governor.
Authorities detonated the car in a controlled explosion.
