More than 100 militants killed in Faryab, including Taliban military chief

FARYAB -- Afghan air strikes in Faryab Province killed 102 Taliban militants, including several top leaders, Khaama Press reported Tuesday (August 21).

The air strikes hit the militants as they travelled to Garziwan from Bulcharagh district, according to a Monday (August 20) statement by the 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan National Army.

The military commission chief of the Taliban for the north, identified as Mawlavi Matiullah, and several other senior Taliban leaders were among those killed, said the statement.
