KANDAHAR -- Afghan special forces killed at least 18 Taliban militants and wounded 19 others during clearance operations in Kandahar Province, Pajhwok Afghan News reported Thursday (September 20).
The operations, which had air support, took place Wednesday (September 19) in Shah Wali Kot District, said officials Thursday.
Security forces arrested at least 19 militants during the operations, according to Aziz Ahmad Azizi, spokesman for the Kandahar provincial governor.
The troops destroyed 250kg of explosives, 38 anti-personnel land mines and many light and heavy weapons, he added.
The Taliban did not immediately comment.
