BRUSSELS -- Reaffirming NATO's support for Afghan security forces and the peace process, Jens Stoltenberg, the alliance's secretary general, said that the Taliban cannot win the fight militarily, according to a NATO statement Wednesday (October 24).
"NATO's allies provide support, but our most important contribution to the peace process is to send a clear message to the Taliban and to other insurgents that they cannot win in the battlefield," Stoltenberg said in Brussels.
He called on the Taliban to come to the negotiating table.
"NATO supports efforts to find a political and peaceful solution to the conflict in Afghanistan," he said.
