KABUL -- The Afghan Independent Election Commission (IEC) Monday (January 14) announced the preliminary results for the Kabul parliamentary elections, TOLOnews reported Monday.
Thirty-three candidates, including nine women, from Kabul won seats in the Wolesi Jirga (the lower chamber of parliament), said IEC officials on Monday. The elections took place October 20.
The Independent Electoral Complaints Commission, which investigates election-related complaints, has not yet verified the results.
