MAZAR-E-SHARIF -- Afghan forces killed at least 16 Taliban fighters in an operation in Sar-e-Pul Province, the 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan National Army said in a statement Tuesday (June 11).
The clash took place Monday morning (June 10) in the Qasqari area of Sar-e-Pul City, the provincial capital, the army said.
Two local Taliban commanders, identified as Badar and Mullah Mashhood, were among those killed, it added.
