KABUL -- Afghan forces killed more than 50 Taliban militants as they expelled the insurgents from Darqad District in Takhar Province on Friday (October 25), the Defence Ministry said in a statement.
Dozen of militants were wounded in the operation, which started days ago in different parts of the district, the ministry said.
In addition, troops seized several vehicles belonging to the group, it added.
The operation came two days after the Afghan forces regained control of Dahna-i-Ghori District, Baghlan Province after three years of Taliban rule.
The Taliban did not immediately comment.
