Afghan troops retake Dahna-i-Ghori District from Taliban

KABUL -- Afghan security forces Wednesday (October 23) regained control of Dahna-i-Ghori District, Baghlan Province, after three years of Taliban rule, the Defence Ministry said in a statement.

Afghan forces launched a clearing operation against the Taliban in the area a week ago, said the statement, adding that the militants have suffered heavy casualties.

The ministry vowed to clear the remaining parts of the province of the Taliban as military operations continue.
